December 1 2008 - Out of BETA

 

Herogame still lacks, since long time, of some material: more missions, some fixes on skills, more tournaments, for example.

Anyway, this game has gone much further then how I expected at the beginning. Orientation, teams, tournaments, quests, immediate missions, objects, additional activities, tutorials, top skills, inventing skills, helping others in fights, interviews, are just a few of things that were not expected in the first idea of rules, in which only missions, skills and fights were included, and that were developed with the tuning and ideas of players!

Although the development will continue, it will be now slower and I wish to declare finally officially ended the beta period :-) The development of the game started in april 2008, from scratch: I didn't know almost anything about how to develop it. It has arrived here after a little more then 6 months and one child born in the meantime :-)

I must thank all users that contributed for the tuning and to add these things. I know there's still a lot of work to do... from now on, unfortunately, this work will be slower. The game is close to being finished but, in my opinion, there's not a lot that we can add to make it better: all additions will slightly improve the game but won't give significative changes to it anymore.

I learned a lot from this project and others projects will follow, better :-)

So, the development will now be slower, unless someone would like to participate by coding and working directly on it. In that case, I'd be happy to accept the cooperation, as usual. The site is entirely written in php / mysql: the programmer will have the keys to the game.

 

Here's what I still have in the TODO list. Some things refer to ideas had many months ago. As you can see there are a LOT of ideas. In particular, Cappuccini and taised gave a lot of ideas and material work that still has to be done.

  • Add male/female and origin State to the profiles 
  • Add XP by using Special Events
  • Add "last visit" as relative date
  • Translate menus with joom!fish
  • Fight in group (partially made with the tickets)
  • Learning "nothing" should automatically change into training
  • Make a better page for "fights"
  • Add hidden events in missions
  • Add statistics about made / unmade missions
  • Add more information about what's won and lost after a fight
  • Show today's events for the Hero
  • Show a final comment to the mission
  • After sending a challenge go back to page 3
  • Add a calendar with all events
  • Bug: the change masks of a missions don't initialize correctly
  • Add: owning some skills potentiate used skills in fight
  • Search recently connected players
  • Add missions with events that need random skills
  • Add "reject challenge"
  • Add the message "this hero has already a fight"
  • Add transparency to all icons
  • Add automatic accept of fights related to parameters (min level and so on)
  • Add a map with missions or villains linked to it
